Holt Renfrew, Campaign for Wool Canada to Spotlight 2021 Capsule Collection
October marks the release of the 2021 edition of the Campaign for Wool capsule collection at Holt Renfrew. A continuing collaboration since 2018, the 2021 collection will feature pieces from renowned Canadian designers LINE, Smythe and Ça va de soi, this year with a special 100% Canadian wool “100 Mile Jacket” from Smythe.
The aptly named blazer derives its moniker from its means of production: the piece is produced entirely from Canadian wool spun, dyed, woven, combed, and sewn at various mills and workshops all within 100 miles of Toronto. Beyond its sharp and powerful silhouette, the 100 Mile Jacket is a celebration of both Canadian artisanal talent and of the many virtues of Canadian wool, too often undervalued and relegated to use as a supplementary blending fibre.
“We are once again delighted to be working with our partners at Holt Renfrew in our mission to promote not only Canadian wool, but the incredible artists in this country who have created such stunning pieces with it,” said Matthew J. Rowe, CEO of the Campaign for Wool Canada. “Our partnership is now in its third year and we remain as excited and proud as ever to work with Holt Renfrew and the talented designers as they realize pieces that highlight the many natural, renewable, and biodegradable benefits of wool.”
Designers LINE and Ça va de soi will round out the collection with all-new wool blankets and sweaters, respectively. While every piece in the collection is sewn in and around the Greater Toronto Area, the 100 Mile Jacket is unique in its use of purely Canadian materials. The blankets and sweaters incorporate cloth from Abraham Moon, one of the U.K.’s oldest and most storied mills and a staunch supporter of the Campaign for Wool.
” Our commitment to lead the way in sustainable fashion is one we take very seriously,” said Alexandra Weston, Vice-President for Brand and Creative Strategy at Holt Renfrew. “Drawing upon both the incredible natural characteristics of Canadian wool and the wealth of design talent in this country, we are immensely proud to be able to come forward with a collection that we can stand behind as being sustainably sourced and environmentally responsible.”
