Mohair Market Report (Catalogue: 202206)
The sixth sale of the 2022 summer season took place in Port Elizabeth on 24 May 2022, with 129 373 kg on offer of which 85% was sold. The offering consisted of excellent quality individual clips which attracted good competition between the buying houses. 71% of the offering consisted of RMS-certified mohair.
The SA currency traded stronger compared to the previous sale, which negatively affected the stronger segment of the market. The demand for mohair remains strong, combined with the excellent individual clips resulted the average market indicator to increase by 1% (4% in dollar terms) to close on R413.87 p/kg.
A highest price of R910 p/kg was paid for a bale of super style 24 micron kid mohair.
