New Zealand Wool Market Report (15 September 2022)
Only the South Island was selling this week with 7,055 bales on offer. The selection consisted of 25% crossbred fleece good style 35.0 to 38.0 micron, bulk 75/150mm, 11% crossbred fleece poorer style 35.0 to 37.0 micron, bulk 75/150mm, 10% crossbred hogget fleece, good style 31.0 to 34.0 micron, 15% crossbred/hogget second shear good colour 33.0 to 37.0 micron bulk 75mm, 10% halfbred fleece 24.0 to 27.0 micron, 7% merino fleece 18.5 micron and finer, 20% associated oddments and 2% miscellaneous types.
The main competition was India, the Continent and United Kingdom, supported by local carpet mills.
Fleece: Crossbred fleece good colour up to 10% cheaper. Halfbreds 1.5% cheaper. Merinos mainly firm however 16.0 to 17.5 micron sellers favour.
Second Shears: Crossbred & Hogget average colour buyers favour. Good colour up to 4% dearer.
Oddments: Combing oddments fully firm. Clothing oddments 5% cheaper. 20% passed in.
