Motohiro Company celebrates 100th anniversary at IWTO Kyoto

Motohiro Company, one of the oldest wool company’s in Japan celebrated 100 years + 2. The original celebrations were postponed due to Covid restrictions. Celebrations were held alongside the IWTO Congress in Kyoto on 16-18 May 2023.

A grand reception to celebrate this event was attended by over 500 invited guests from around the world and extended Motohiro family. Guests were entertained by a troupe of exuberant drummers, Japanese opera with performers dressed in traditional Kimono, and modern musical singers and musicians.

Tetsuya Motohiro welcomed his guests in both Japanese and English and honored a number of business partners, associates, and friends including Marco Schneider of Schneider Group Italy, a long-time business partner, who travelled from Italy for this occasion.

Tetsuya Motohiro, third generation family member and current president of Motohiro Company commented that ‘although we shifted from silk to wool, we have maintained our basic philosophy to value long-term customer relationships with honesty, sincerity and professionalism, and we have upheld these values for 100 years’.

Tetsuya Motohiro paid tribute to Riichi Motohiro, who founded Motohiro & Co as a silk trading company in Kyoto Japan in 1921. Today the company has a wide operational network in Japan, Australia, and China.
