New Zealand Market Report (11 January 2024)
Market firm, tending buyers favour. North Island only selling, offering 10,400 bales. The selection consisted of 25% ewe fleece average/good colour 75/150mm, 45% crossbred second shear good/average colour 75mm +/-, 10% lambs, good colour, 15% associated oddments and 5% miscellaneous types. Good competition. Indian sub-continent and China main competition with support from Europe, the United Kingdom and local carpet mills.
Fleece: Good colour crossbred ewe/hogget fleece generally firm. Poorer style crossbred fleece buyers favour.
Shears: Good colour crossbred ewe/hogget shears generally firm. Poorer style crossbred shears buyers favour.
Lambs: In a limited selection new season good colour lambs firm. Poorer style lambs buyers favour.
Oddments: Generally up to 5% cheaper.
5% passed in.
Next Auction: North Island offering 8,150 bales and South Island offering 7,000 bales 18th January 2024.
