New Zealand Market Report (24 April 2024)

South Island only today offering 8,610 bales.  The selection consisted of 35% crossbred fleece average to poor colour, 75/150mm, 20% crossbred second shear mainly good colour, 75mm +/-, 26% lambs mainly good colour, 16% associated oddments and 3% miscellaneous types. 

Main competition on the good colour were Europe and the United Kingdom with China and India soaking up the poor colour fleece with support from local mills.

Fleece:Good colour crossbred fleece up to 3% cheaper. Poorer colour crossbred fleece firm to sellers favour.

Shears: Good colour shears firm to sellers favour.

Lambs: Good colour & low VM lambs keenly sought after and 2% dearer. Average colour lambs firm to sellers favour. Poor colour lambs firm in a limited selection.

Oddments: 2/4 inch crossbred oddments up to 10% dearer.Lamb oddments firm. All other oddments firm to buyers favour.

Passings: 15% passed in.
