New Zealand Market Report (26 June 2024)

The market was generally dearer except good colour fleece which tended slightly easier. Both centres selling today. North Island offering 8,815 bales and South Island offering 10,130 bales. The selection consisted of 36% average colour full length fleece, 30% crossbred shears generally good colour, 75/150mm, 16% mainly good/average colour lambs, coarser, 2-4 inch, 13% associated oddments, and 5% miscellaneous.  Competition Europe and India, supported by United Kingdom, China and local mills.

Fleece: Good colour up to 2% cheaper. Average colour very firm. Halfbred fleece firm to sellers favour.

Shears: Good colour up to 2% dearer. Average colour firm.

Lambs: All descriptions generally firm.

Oddments: All descriptions seeing strong competition up to 8% dearer.

9% passed in.

Next Auction: Again no sale next week. North Island selling Thursday 11th July 2024 with an estimated  8,100 bales on offer.
