Market mixed. South Island only selling today offering 5,700 bales. The selection consisted of 40% crossbred fleece average/good colour, 75-150mm, 12% good colour crossbred shears, 5% lambs fleece mostly good/average colour, 12% merino fleece, 18% halfbred fleece, 10% associated oddments average colour and 3% miscellaneous types.
Main competition for crossbreds came from Europe and India, supported by the United Kingdom and local Australasian mills. Merinos and Halfbreds main support from Europe and China.
Fleece: Good/average colour crossbred fleece firm to sellers favour. Merinos keen sought after. Halfbreds firm to buyers favour.
Shears: All descriptions firm to 1% dearer.
Oddments: Crossbred oddments good/average colour firm to buyers favour.
11% passed in.

Next auction – Thursday 10th October 2024 – South Island offering 7,200 bales and North Island 6,900 bales selling.
