Wool drives sustainable, high-performance fashion this Wool Month
With the spotlight firmly on Wool during Wool Month, Campaign for Wool proudly collaborates with Woolmark, the global authority on wool, to champion wool’s unique role in the worldwide textile landscape and showcase some of the best examples of brands and designers creating considered garments, wellness and lifestyle collections that show Australian Merino at its best.
Campaign for Wool also highlights some of the most exciting new consumer wool stories and collections that put British Wool, New Zealand and South African Merino at the heart of their designs and creations.
Woolmark will present its latest edition of ‘The Wool Lab’, a curated collection of innovative new wool fabrics, yarns, and processes, providing futuristic insights into new applications for wool.
As the world shifts towards eco-conscious choices and the impact of climate change becomes more pronounced, the demand for genuinely sustainable products is on the rise. In this landscape, wool, with its unique properties, stands as a beacon of hope, offering a sustainable and authentic alternative to fossil-fuel-derived fibres.
Merino wool is driving a shift towards sustainable, high-performance fashion. As consumers reject synthetics, Merino meets modern demands for comfort, performance and mindful consumption. Soft, breathable, renewable and biodegradable. Wool performs all year-round, warm in winter, cool in summer. Favoured by leading designers: Chanel, Dior, Celine, Balenciaga, Victoria Beckham and Givenchy, and adopted by sports innovators: Lululemon, The North Face, On, Salomon and Patagonia.
Recent weeks have seen the Australian wool market experience its strongest rise in 30 years, driven by renewed global confidence and genuine demand for wool products, including Merino, which is the world’s most circular and recycled apparel fibre.
Similarly British Wool reports the sharpest price increase in a decade. British Wool’s recent sale saw the most intense level of competition with all of British Wool’s main buyer active, with UK, European and Chinese-focussed buyers competing to secure wool supplies. All core types traded significantly higher, with the main grades of carpet wool trading close to 20% higher towards the end of the catalogue.
Celebrated for its soft handle, breathability, warmth, moisture wicking, longevity, performance, and biodegradability, wool is the world’s oldest and original circular fibre created by nature, crafted by the hands of experts into a plethora of products.
