New AWI Chairman and Three Directors Elected to Board

Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) has a new Chairman, South Australian grower and businessman George Millington. He replaces Jock Laurie who retired at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) after ten years as an AWI Director.

Mr Millington was the only nomination at the board meeting immediately following the AGM. Mr Millington says the election provides some clear air.

“There has been a lot of politics around AWI over the last twelve months with both Woolpoll and Director election. With the conclusion of this year’s AGM I, the board and the AWI team are now excited at the prospect of delivering strong outcomes for woolgrowers”.

AWI shareholders elected Anthony Uren, Michelle Humphries and Chris Mirams to the three vacant board positions during the meeting.

AWI has a seven-member AWI board and elections for Directors are held every two years.

Five candidates stood for election to the board in 2025.

The three candidates with the most votes from shareholders, in person and by proxy, were elected to the vacant board positions.
