China Nonwovens Exports Heat Record High
According to domestic customs statistics released this week, China’s spunlace nonwovens exports hit a record monthly high of 43,913 tons in Apr 2026, with a y-o-y increase of 10% and a m-o-m rise of 14%. The export value stood at 99.02 million USD, up 11% y-o-y and 14% m-o-m. The total exports from Jan to Apr amounted to 153,660 tons, a y-o-y increase of 6%.
In April, exports of spunlace nonwovens to the top five destinations (South Korea, the United States, Japan, Vietnam and Brazil) totaled 23,071 tons, rising 12% y-o-y and accounting for 53% of overall exports (a 1% y-o-y decline). The cumulative exports to these five countries from Jan to Apr were 79,312 tons, up 5% y-o-y. The y-o-y growth rate of exports to the five destinations varied sharply in Apr. The United States and Vietnam posted substantial growth, while exports to South Korea notched a new monthly record. In addition, exports to Israel recovered faster than expected, reaching 1,398 tons in Apr, which was higher than the average level of last year.
In April, major origins including Zhejiang, Shandong, Jiangsu, Guangdong and Fujian recorded combined spunlace nonwovens exports of 36,411 tons, a 9% y-o-y increase and occupying 83% of the national total. Both y-o-y and m-o-m growth rate of exports from these five key regions were lower than the national average. In y-o-y terms, Shandong and Guangdong saw export declines; Guangdong registered negative growth on monthly basis.
Spunlace nonwovens exports hit a historic monthly high of nearly 44kt in April, with double-digit growth on both monthly and yearly basis. By destination, exports to mainstream markets generally increased on both yearly and monthly basis, with shipments to South Korea setting a new monthly record. Among regions, Guangdong delivered a relatively weak performance in April, with exports falling both year on year and month on month.
